10/25/2004: "Another hospital appointment."
I've got a monthly renal clinic appoint at the hospital. I went this morning. The doctor was telling me that my haemoglobin levels were a bit low, but that my creatinine (essentially the amount of poison in my system) levels were fairly constant. My kidney's working at about 30% efficiency. It was a simple enough exchange; I told him how I was feeling, he told me how I actually was.
It's odd to have matters of importance discussed so casually. I mentioned this. I told the doctor what he says is important to my life, yet the tone of the conversation is more suited to someone ordering vegetables from a greengrocer; not that histrionics would help matters.
He chuckled and agree with me, saying that it's best (useful?) to be logical and dispassionate about it. Thinking about the ramificationsmight mean people couldn't cope.
Logical and dispassionate. Logical and dispassionate. I always am, and I'm anything but.
