02/14/2004: "Valetine's day commentary."
I was at business meeting yesterday. Two women in it were talking about dating.
"I wouldn't go out with a man who only had a pay as you go phone."
"I agree."
I told the first I was glad she had her priorities right.

They're right, of course. If a guy's so cheap that he can't or won't afford a decent phone system that's a pretty good insight into his character. A big night out = a Big Mac.
He's also probably anti social if he can't see the value of being easily accessible to his family and friends.

There's a difference between being cheap and not having any money.
Money helps relationships enormously, but it can't sustain them.
There's also nothing 'anti-social' about not having a mobile phone.
I wouldn't have a (or need) a pay monthly phone if it weren't for my job.

Ahhh, but the test was ""I wouldn't go out with a man who only had a pay as you go phone."
You win; she wins; everyone's a winner...it's only the prize that's out of reach.

I'm sorry, I don't understand.
Would it help if I explained she had a date with a guy who had a PAYG phone, was told he'd run out of credit and thought to herself "What, can't you afford a pay monthly one then?"
She wouldn't go out with anyone that was poor.

Hmmm, I think 'we're' still not clear on the point of a man & woman union.
She gets lifetime security in return for promising to screw like a mink. It's up to her to make the best deal she can, because, in theory, she only gets one kick at the can.
Did that help?

I understand that.
That's what I find so depiscable about the whole thing.

Why? It's always been that way. Make lots of money, ID', and your social life will be complete :P
Of course there's an exception; Bad Boys get all they can handle without ANY wealth. That'd probably be your best bet...

Just because it's always been that way doesn't make it right.
At best it's animalistic at worst it's meretricious.
